he completed the master of sciences in advanced architectural design program in columbia university in the city of new york . he is an architect since 1999 having completed his studies at the superior technical school of la coruña, spain. as a student he collaborated with the architectural office of jose gonzález cebrián. between the years 1996 y 2000 he received four scholarships from the ministry of foreign affairs in order to collaborate interdepartmentally in argentina , brazil , colombia and mexico . he creates kel in 2000: a studio of architecture and urbanism, which, together with students of the architecture school of la coruña , participated in national and international competitions obtaining various awards. in 2002 he collaborates, as an investigator of the university of la coruña , in projects of the departamento de construccións arquitectónicas . in the meanwhile, he starts his phd. from 2003 until 2004 he moves to london. he collaborates with david chipperfield architects y churchill hui architects. roque viejo was awarded by the barrie de la maza foundation for a scholarship in 2004 in order to realize a master of science in architecture in the united states. he is the main director of kel architects and he realizes projects in spain , brazil and greece . he collaborates with churchill hui architects in london and besonías+almeida+kruk architects in buenos aires . he speaks spanish, portuguese, english, italian and german.
